Vision!!!

I was fixing up the tel line at 10 plus this morning (someone took out the electricity supply to the phone) when i suddenly see a curved line of light and dark shadows underneath the light....all within my right eye but projected on what i focused. On the line there were stars or triangles. My vision was affected and even when i closed my eye, the light and dark shadows were present.

Dr Lowly diagnosed Retina Detachment or Tear and straightaway arranged for me to see his eye doctor friend. I was told to get ready to leave house. Hmmmm, decided to take a bath first and as i stepped into the toilet, it disappeared. I could see clearly again but felt a little uncomfortable in the eye, as in like something was there. 5 mins was all it took for the flash and shadow thingy.

Dr lowly still insisted i go and get the eye checked coz blindness can occur if not treated for Retina detachment. Dutifully, i made preparations. Decided to download mail before i go. At about 11 odd (before 11.15am), i was overtaken with sudden severe headache. Started on the left eye and then left side. Deep and throbbing plus unbearable, i had to take panadol and rest. I felt soooo ill and wanted to throw out too. Applied some "hong yew" on my head coz it would take a while for panadol to work. Prayed to God for mercies and grace and just closed my eyes.

About 12.30pm, i felt much better. Pain was almost gone and no nauseating feeling. Haha, i felt hungry actually. Went down to ask Aprel to cook instant noodle for me. To be honest, i didnt want to eat rice but wanted to eat bread with icecream!!!! Settled for noodles and salted vege soup. Dr lowly ate his lunch late and we left home at 2plus for SNEC (singapore national eye centre).

Waited for a while before i see the senior consultant. Had my vision test done b4 that and eye sight remained the same...6/6 (L), 6/9 (R).

Eye Dr seemed to be in hurry and didnt quite wait for me to tell my history. Checked my eye and told me to go to the imaging centre to photograph the inner eye or rather the inside of the eye. As the technician was photographing it, a bigger screen displaying my eye was shown to dr lowly. He saw a white patch at 10 o'clock position and he could not give an explanation for that. I could....coz the flash and dark shadow's position was at the same 10 o'clock area... hee hee... nah, just confirming there is a connection between this patch and what i experienced. I know nuts to explain further.

As we waited to see the doc again, i didnt think much of this white patch. Was thinking more of how to finish two tasks on hand when i get home and also Aprel was waiting for me to teach her cook dinner....time check then was 4.30pm....getting really late.

In the consultation room, he re-checked my eye and i managed to tell him my history. Then he showed us the enlarged photo. I saw the white patch for the first time. He also highlighted to us the abnormal blood vessel seen under the patch. What he said next was rather unsettling.... "This is the first time i see in my 20 years of practice and i dont know what it is"

He told us the flash i saw usually precede a migraine attack but my description of the flash and shadow didnt resemble the typical migraine flash. The blood vessel could mean i have a blood clot that travelled from my heart up to my eye (or something like that). Then he mentioned the look of it also not conclusive of a clot or heart problem. He recommended me to see heart and nerve specialist and he told me frankly he didnt know how to treat me.

Ha ha..... i know WHO knows and i am not afraid. I am only concerned as it is nearing NTM trip. BUT God is in control and so I commit and fret not. His work will not be hindered and i need to trust.

Both lowly and myself decided to let my rheumatology doc decide what to do next. I will be seeing her on Tues and perhaps then, she may be able to solve the mystery.
