Met BK who happened to be returning home after her eye check up in the same hospital. Haha, yesterday i met Mrs Ivy Tow at the eye clinic, who was there for some eye problem and waiting for her medicine. Actually i noticed someone of a familiar figure as i sat down to wait for my eye to be tested by the nurses. At the corner of my eye i thot this figure belonged to Mrs Tow. Turned to take a good look at the person sitting next to me, sure enough, Mrs Tow alright! It is really a small world we are living in :)
While waiting for my turn, Dr lowly came from office to join me. It was 2.05pm when i received a sms from him that he has just arrived and taking lunch at the hospital canteen. At 2.15pm and feeling hungry, i sms him to buy me some finger food and drink (had a very quick and light lunch at 11 plus in the morning before i left home).
When he finally showed up at 2.35pm, he came empty handed. I was disappointed that he brought no food and upon questioning, he revealed a childish grin and started to take out his wallet..... I was about to go "if u have no money, you can always draw at atm and buy something for me" when i saw the wallet. It was full of money alright but all the wrong money! Foreign currencies to be exact.....Euro dollars, Malaysian ringgit, HK dollars, Ren Ming Bi and even Indian Rupee!!!!! LOL! He took the wrong wallet to work! It contained not a single card, debit or credit and definitely no SIN dollars!
Oh man, what a silly mistake. And how did he have his lunch then? Dr Lowly had a meeting with some guy at the office and supposedly to give him a lift to MRT but instead invited him to have lunch together. Thank God he did coz when he was about to pay, he realised he couldnt and this guy treated him for lunch!
We had a good laugh just before my name was called..... Mr Alen Thum......huh? Who? Mr? Argh..... it has been donkey years and people just continue to make this mistake, ignoring the salutation before my name. Sigh.
Dr Ajeet was very professional and he read thro my notes before he started talking to me. Just when he was about to beat the silence, this was heard over the PA
"Ladies and Gentlemen, we have investigated and are pleased to inform you that it is a false alarm and the situation is under control."
This went on for 4 times with a 5 sec break in between each announcement. It was super irritating. For one, we didnt hear any announcement earlier about a false fire alarm and two, it was so loud that my doc had to wait till it was over before he opened his mouth to speak. And during the 30min consultation, it came on several times till he had to lodge a complaint. Both of us were irritated by this too and we had every right to be coz customers are always right :)
After a very detailed examination of the eye and listening to my story of what happened on Friday, he told me i have confounding symptoms. Oh boy, the few confounds i know of is the tower of babel, the apostles' gift of speaking in tongues and then the verse that says God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. I looked bewildered and he continued to explain....
1) i saw the curved line in my right eye but i had severe migraine which started on my left eye
2) i saw darkness below the curved line which is at 10 o'clock position in the eye. The cotton wool spot was at the same position in my eye. BUT medically speaking, the cotton wool spot should be at the bottom of my eye. Dont ask me why, i am being confounded by him :(
Hmmm, tho what i saw is not typical of migraine, he didnt rule out the possibility. And it could also be coincidental, i.e. these two symptoms were not related. And he further explained it could be because of my disease but from the look of it was unlikely. The other remote possibility is the emboli from somewhere travelled to my eye and planted itself there. He suggested to have an angiogram of the eye to confirm how blocked are my blood vessels but this investigation finding will not change the management of my condition. Wow, dr lowly and myself are really not keen to go for this because of the high risk involved and the side effect. This test is similar to those who suffer from heart attack with blood vessels blockage and need to pump a dye in to determine the severity of condition. Procedure for the eye will take 30-45mins and have to wait for dye to settle down and take several shots of the eye. It will cause nausea and discomfort and i will be yellow for one day. Literally. Honestly, i didnt like the dye experience previously and so i opt out. Call me a chicken but i ain't going to have anymore dye inside me. Period.
Will remain status quo for now till i return from NTM to see this eye doc again. Meanwhile, i desire to continue with the injection (the new drug i am on, which happens to belong to a group of drug that everyone fears.....biologic agents....how potent is that!). Have sms my rheumatology doc to let me continue with this treatment but she has yet to reply me. Tomorrow is my injection and the doc at home wants to go ahead. 10% of me wonders if i will have the same 5 mins flash on fri like last week coz it occured a day after my weekly injection. Nah, it is beyond my control and i should not even think about it.....10% or less....God will take care of me.
I will live with the cotton wool in my eye for next 3 weeks and may God grant me the grace and strength to cope if my symptoms return while i am overseas. Thanks for remembering me in prayer....all of you who are reading and do continue to pray.
