One part of Rev Koshy's message reminded me of what happened long long time ago. He said some children grabbed or hugged an adult thinking he/she was the parent; But when they looked up, oops... wrong one. Hmmm..... the case i remember is the other way round... believe me? You better!
Who was the blur parent? Guess no one will ever guess this right and the person himself probably doesnt remember this anymore. But i do!
Long time ago, when Rachel was perhaps just K1 or K2, she looked like a girl in Pandan church. In fact, many people saw some resemblance, including Dr lowly and myself. And so one day after service was over and all were having lunch at the fellowship hall, i was standing there talking to Rev Quek (back then, he was not a pastor or reverend yet). Rachel was playing with that girl and others too and was seen running past us. He erh..... grabbed hold of her and said in a raised voice,
"Abigail, why are you running around like this and why are you in this clothes?"
Rachel looked afraid and was stunned. I was speechless too for some split seconds... till i actually understood what happened!!! Gently, i told him,
"Suan Yew, she is Rachel, my daughter. Not Abigail."
"Oh.....not my daughter Abigail? Sorry, sorry.... i didnt wear my specs, could not see clearly....hahahaha..."
I laughed too but was secretly wondering in my heart... what was wrong with Rachel's dressing? She was not wearing frocks or party clothes or those with lots of laces or layers... but something simple and down to earth... long sleeved cotton dress. Perhaps he has not seen his daughter in this dress or rather no such dress at home and so wondering where on earth did "abigail" get this attire. Mmmmm.....whatever the reason, it was something i remembered till this day and so adults make mistakes too, not just young kids whose height couldnt measure up to us :)
However, there were few instances of a young kid or toddler grabbing me thinking i was his/her parent. Haha... it was really funny but i didnt like the look of disappointment on their faces tho.... kind of like "eee..... you are not my mommy... who are you??? so ugly"
Thank God our Father knows us thro and thro. He knows His sheep by name and even the hairs on our heads are all numbered. I have a great big wonderful God and He loves me for just who i am. What an even greater comfort to know that He is praying for us too! Do we then pray for ourselves, for our family, for our loved ones or even interceding for one another in need?
Hmmm.....remembered another joke when Rev Koshy asked us to turn to John 17... the precious verse that he treasure all these years. What is today??? Jokes remembrance day for me???
John 17:10
"And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them."
Long time ago, Eld Seah was telling us about husband and wife and the love relationship between them. Then we were talking about how a husband view his wife and stuff. Our ever-loving husband elder said he always tell Amy this:
"What is mine, is yours. And what is yours, is yours also"
Whoa.... very sacrificial and loving. And then Dr lowly said his is different and he always tells me this:
"What is mine, is mine. And what is yours, is mine also."
Hahahahahaha......we all had a good laugh!!!!
Lastly i want to end with something funny that happened today!!! BK was in the female toilet wiping her face when i went in (that was about 10mins before service started). I was wondering it wasnt too hot a day to produce that amount of sweat....Then i remembered perhaps she did the toilet duty and so exerted too much energy. Her answer was not what i could imagine. It made me laugh....really really laugh, and it certainly cheered me up.
She took down the refreshner spray hung high up on the wall to clean and noticed the timing was set to 10-12mins one puff. She decided to change to 30 mins and so she was fiddling with the buttons and accidentally pressed the lever to activate the PUFF!!! hahaha.... it shot right into her face and she was taken aback. Apparently Christine was inside the toilet too, washing her hands and witnessed this incident. She too started laughing at this sister. Poor BK... her specs, her face and even some of the liquid went into her nostrils and she needed to have a good clean up. After service, she was still telling me about it and said her blouse smelled soo badly....poor girl.....but it was so amusing that i am still laughing as i typed this now..... heee :)
